For over
15 years, Wayne
Weinberg has been an integral member of the Central Florida business community holding several high-profile positions. Leadership roles in business, education, government and
the media have given him a wide variety of opportunities and made him a recognizable and respected member of the Orlando
business community.
Currently, Weinberg is the Director
of Development for the College of Engineering
and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida (UCF). His job is to build mutually beneficial relationships with
area businesses, government and alumni to maximize giving opportunities for the college through consistent teamwork. For 40
years, UCF’s College of Engineering
and Computer Science has helped students and businesses play a critical role in the success of this area’s economy and
contribute to the betterment of society.
Prior to joining UCF, Wayne
Weinberg was the President of the largest Chamber in Seminole County,
the Greater Seminole County Chamber of Commerce. He is credited with significantly
raising the Chamber’s profile with a regional approach. High on the agenda was economic development. While under Weinberg’s direction, the Orlando Business Journal
named the Chamber the Best Chamber in Central Florida. During that time, Weinberg
also co-founded The Seminole Vision in 1996.
In the mid 90’s, Weinberg was one of Orlando’s
most visible government officials, serving as special assistant to the Honorable Glenda Hood, Mayor of Orlando. In addition
to being the city spokesperson, Weinberg advised the Mayor on issue management.
Despite his recent successes in education, economic development and
government, Weinberg’s first love will always be broadcasting. He has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a broadcast
journalist. As morning news anchor on WDBO-AM’s market leading “Jim Turner Show” for 11 years, Weinberg
became one of the area’s most popular media figures. Among numerous honors for his news reporting and management, he
and his team received the distinguished Edward R. Murrow Award for the best news operation in North America. He is also a
freelance voice talent who has been heard in dozens of markets across the nation. He was the official voice for Walt Disney
World’s re-dedication of the Magic Kingdom.
Weinberg, a 1996 Leadership Seminole graduate, strongly
believes in serving the community. He participated as a member of the transition team that led to the July 2003 merger of
The Seminole Vision and Leadership Seminole resulting in the creation of Envision Seminole and served as that organization’s
first chairman. In addition, he has served the following organizations: Central Florida Zoo; Heart of Florida United Way;
Florida Citrus Sports; Leadership Seminole; Seminole County School Readiness Coalition; Seminole County Youth Commission;
Seminole Cultural Arts Board; Florida Hospital Altamonte Foundation; UCF College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Advisory
Council; UCF Nicholson School of Communication Advisory Committee; Boy Scouts of America; Olympic Soccer; American Cancer
